I can't see a difference in picture quality between VMR9 and MadVR's default settings so I use VMR9, plus I had an issue with MadVr and Reclock when switching displays. It can't keep up and I end up with tearing and dropped frames etc. I don't use Potplayer much because it's plethora of options make my head hurt, but I have a pretty old video card and while it copes with MPC-HC using the default MadVR settings most of the time, changing them to "better" quality settings is a no-go. If memory serves me correctly, Potplayer is retarded and by default uses CTRL+J as a shortcut for something else, despite the fact it's traditionally used for renderer info, but when MadVR is doing the rendering it should steal the shortcut back from Potplayer and CTRL+J will enable/disable the display of renderer information. It pays to start a video playing, let it settle for a second or two, then use CTRL+R to reset the renderer info while the video is playing. CTRL+R should reset statistics such as the dropped frame count. It works for all renderers in MPC-HC, although they supply different information. I like to keep Winamp as strictly my entire music collection. If you select Ctrl+J while a video is playing you'll be provided with statistics regarding playback (use CTRL+J again to disable them).

I personally use Winamp as my (library) music player, but set MPC-HC as the default Windows audio file player for playing files from Explorer.

EDIT: OK it seems that MPC-HC is still being updated! I wonder what it offers, as I don't usually expect much from an update of such program. I think CoverArtSizeLimit should probably default to 0, but oh well.ġ.8.6? I thought I was on the latest version since development stopped.

Thank you, it worked! I love the classic compact WMP design. Be sure to check latest MPC-HC 1.8.6 with additional features and bugfixes and worth a try to check MPC-BE as well (my favourite videoplayer).įor audio files I can recommend foobar2000 (I use it also for many years), I use MPC-BE for special audio filetypes, because it is designed as videoplayer primarily, and so is MPC-HC. This is also the difference between your two versions. But if you have any file(s) with CoverArt, this is disabled by this setting. Advanced settings (last page) and set CoverArtSizeLimit to 0. I just downloaded MPC-HC 1.8.6 圆4 to check for you. So my question is very simple - is this in fact the intended behavior in MPC-HC's implementation of youtube-dl? When this MPC-HC youtube-dl setting is set to 1080p, rather than playing fmt137 or fmt248, it will actually play fmt271 (the format YouTube labels "1440p" which supports a maximum resolution of 2560x1440), because the wide aspect ratio results in a resolution of 2560x1080 whereby the vertical resolution is 1080 pixels. However, the built-in youtube-dl vertical resolution setting in MPC-HC does not seem to follow this same pattern as the actual YouTube web page.

When I select 1080p on the actual YouTube web page as normal, you get 1920x810 as is to be expected as YouTube's quality/resolution labels are actually a slight misnomer since YouTube decides a given quality/resolution based on the horizontal or the vertical resolution. Quick question about the built-in youtube-dl vertical resolution setting and the following 2.37 aspect ratio video:
